I was a little dissapointed by my last Fort Collins beer, Rocky Mountain IPA, so lets hope this is better. I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of amber ales. Maybe I have not found the right one yet, but I do tend to find them boring. Maybe this one will change my mind.
Pours a nice dark amber color, big offwhite head with a nice amount of lacing. Aroma of Caramel and a little grassy hops. Not a whole lot to it, but that has been my expeirience with amber ales. The taste is much the same. Malty and caramel, medium body and a lot of carbonation. A little grapefruity citrus type hop taste, with a little bitter bite. Slight metallic taste, also something I tend to associate with amber ales. This one is certainly not going to change my opinion on ambers, but it is a decent beer. Nothing special.
