I love a beer with some controversy. I also love a beer with some swearing in the title. So I was excited to pick up some of To Øl's "fuck art" series. According to their website the beers in this series are classic Belgian but with a twist. The whole series is a little poke at people taking beer and craft beer in general a little too seriously. Pours a murky orange color with a giant super massive gigantic head. I mean the head on this beer deserved songs, I filled half the memory on my phone taking pictures of it (see below). Slightly offwhite and fluffy, starts out huge and then settles back leaving enormous chunks of itself attached to the side of the glass. The nose is hops and brett. Flowery hop smell mixes with dank and leathery smells. Relatively hop forward for this type of beer. Grassy and citrus hops combine with dry leather, little bit of the horsey barnyard taste usually associated with brett. There is also a decent amount of good ole pilsner malt in the background. This is a bitter pale ale, has a decent hop bite on the backend. Not sure if it goes well with the bone dry thin mouthfeel that comes from adding brettanomyces into the mix. All in all it is an interesting beer, a nice spin on a classic style, highly drinkable. I am not gonna go on anymore about it, because Fuck it this is a beer to be enjoyed!
