The 12 Breweries of Christmas

The 12 Breweries of Christmas

12-breweries-collage-web You know that song about the 12 weird things someone got before Christmas. You know the one with the bunch of birds, some rings, and of course a bunch of people jumping and playing instruments. Well my brother decided to plan something similar for my trip to visit him in Western Michigan. Instead of birds it was breweries, and instead of all the rest of the stuff it was a lot of beer. 12 breweries, and 107 different beers to be exact. Now it didn't take place exactly in 12 days, more like 8, so there is a possible Hanukkah connection as well. Anyway happy holidays from Rock on Beer and get ready for the chronicle of the 12 breweries of Christmas.

Here is a list of breweries in chronological order as best as my beer soaked brain can remember:

Latitude 42 A brand new brewpub in Portage Michigan

Boatyard A startup brewery in kalamazoo Michigan. Not even technically open yet, I feel special.

Bell's Brewery One of Michigan's most well known and biggest breweries. This is their brewery and taproom in downtown kalamazoo Michigan.

Tibbs Brewing Co. A tiny little brewery in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo Michigan.

Gonzo's Bigg Dogg Brewing A shiny new brewpub in Kalamazoo Michigan.

Rupert's An old bar, a corner full of large scale homebrewing equipment, and a small but awesome array of beers on tap. Kalamazoo may have a lot of little breweries downtown, but this was one of the standouts.

Iechyd Da Brewing A cool brewpub in Elkhart Indiana

Three Floyds The legendary heavy metal brewery in Munster, Indiana.

Tapistry A great little brewery in Bridgman Michigan. This area is known for it's wine, but several new microbreweries have opened in the area. This was one of my favorites.

Founders Brewing Co. The other jugernaught of Michigan Craftbeer. They just finished a huge renovation and expansion to their taproom in Grand Rapids Michigan.

Perrin Brewing A brewpub in Comstock Park Michigan. A huge and varied selection of beer, starting to can soon.

Darkhorse Brewing Co. Marshall Michigan's bad ass brewery and taproom. You can't even see the walls because of all the beer mugs hanging around.
